Hi, I am Carol Gomes.
I am a wife, mother of 4, and a “Mema” to 11 grandkids. I love all forms of crafting. I learned to embroider and sew as a young girl, added crewel work and needlepoint as I got older, gave quilting a try since it really isn’t that far off from scrapbooking, but I specialize in scrapbooking and paper crafting. I have been a Close to my Heart Consultant for 19 years. I also love to do genealogy which fits in so well with pictures.
I love to share my love of papercrafting with others, because there is such a sense of accomplishment in each page you get done. I began scrapbooking when my daughter was pregnant with her second son at a church meeting. We enjoyed scrapbooking together until my son-in-law joined the Army and they moved to Georgia.
The importance of scrapbooking really hit home for me when my youngest son started High School sports. I started an album for him and he said “mom, you don’t have to do that, it’s dumb.” Then weeks later, he was bringing his football friends around and showing off the scrapbook!
Today people tend to leave their photos of their phones, or in the cloud, but it only takes once for a hard drive to fail, or to hit delete when you misunderstand what the screen is telling you (sorry Josie), to loose everything but those memories. Then you get old and the memories fade. You could curl up with your phone and flip through pictures (if you remember how) or you can pull down the scrapbook and see the photos and read the memories as they were remembered at the time.
I would love to help you scrapbook your memories. If you are thinking you don’t have time, think again, there are lots of ways to scrapbook that only take a few minutes. I love the social aspect of scrapbooking with others, making new friends and helping others realize the dreams they have for their own scrapbooks.
Creatively,
Carol
