Ever since Close to my Heart closed it’s doors, I have been floundering a bit. I have donated over 1000 cards since June 30 of last year but I have missed you. Most of the scrapbooking I have done is at crops with my daughter, Karen so I thought I would share this article about 10 tips to a healthier croppiong experience.
- Vary tasks and take a breaks to increase productivity. Set a timer to remind you to take short breaks.
- Incorporate stretches and exercises into your crops. Build up muscle groups that feel the effects of srapbooking, like shoulders and hands.
- Use tools that decrease force whenever possible.
- Support the lower back with a lumbar pillow or rolled up towel.
- Use a footrest or thick book to help keep feet flat.
- Increase task lighting to alleviate eyestrain.
- Use different work stations for different tasks. Use sitting stations for precise work, like beading and standing stations for force-intensice work, like punching or stamping, to permit more efficient use of the upper body
- Keep everything within the “swing space“, or the Easy Reach Zone.
- Orient your work to suit you whenever possible. Redesign the task to keep your body in a neutral position.
- Work at forearm level to keep arms, neck and shoulders relaces and wrists straight and neutral.
I hope you find this article healpful. What other tips do you use at a crop to have a great cropping ecperience? Leave a message below so everyone can benefit from healthier scrapbook crops.
